GED means General Educational Development, which is a credential for those who did not complete high school. A GED is an academic credential that signifies you have skills equivalent to a high school graduate. The test covers four main subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math. It provides an opportunity for individuals who didn’t finish high school to earn an official, accepted educational credential. A GED diploma can be used to apply to colleges, obtain government financial aid, and pursue higher education, just like a high school diploma. Each test part requires a passing score (e.g., 145 on each part) to earn the credential, and achieving a total score of at least 580 across the four parts is necessary.
